MACBA Consortium
The MACBA is a consortium formed by three public authorities (Barcelona City Council, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia and the Spanish Government, through the Ministry of Culture) as well as a private foundation (the MACBA Foundation).
According to its current statutes, the purpose of the MACBA Consortium is:
- To manage the MACBA as an institution dedicated to the acquisition, conservation, study, exhibition and educational interpretation of contemporary works of art with a particular focus on the work of Catalan artists or those connected with Catalonia.
- To create bibliographical and documentary holdings to facilitate the understanding and dissemination of contemporary art.
- To stimulate and promote all activities at the MACBA as a place to enjoy the various expressions of contemporary art in addition to being a place to train and educate people through art so as to develop their sense of critique.
