By introducing the idea that sound is an area worth researching, avant-garde movements, in hopes of renewing society, expanded human perception by widening the range of materials and means of creation. It was not until the 1950s and 60s that sound was considered a part of the artistic realm, and accordingly produced, articulated and diffused. Sound and advances in transmission technology introduced, along with film, their own time as an integral element in conditioning the visual experience. The Vinyl album—authentic transmitter and dynamic catalyst to sound's popularity—has been "colonized" by artists who have taken it over to disseminate their works of art.

This publication hopes to influence the sphere of musical and sonorous creation, inside contemporary cultural production, by talking about aspects as diverse as vocal experimentation, technical and conceptual innovations, from the experimental traditions of classical music to today's most current popular forms: rock, pop and flamenco.
