25th Anniversary Fundació MACBA Open House
The Fundació MACBA celebrates its 25th Anniversary. In 1987 thirty private firms and thirty private collectors joined Leopoldo Rodés, president of the Fundació, in order to collaborate in the constitution of the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, and to contribute to the creation of an art collection. This collection was created before the opening of the Museum in 1995, and it forms the basis of the MACBA Collection. Out of a total of 4,674 works, 1,699 belong to the Fundació. The generous contribution of private firms and private collectors, together with the Fundació's commitment to patronage, has allowed the MACBA Collection to grow year after year. MACBA's administrative model is a pioneering public and private alliance in the art sector and has become a point of reference in today's situation of crisis.

The Study Centre also opens its doors to the public and offers a showcase of some of the most singular documents from the Library and the Archive.
Down-to-Earth Imaginary Inflatables
Hour: All day.
The exhibition Eivissa 1971: When Utopia Was Possible will be the starting point for this participative activity open to the general public. Taking advantage of MACBA’s architecture and relying on inventiveness and participation, the artists Jordi Ferreiro and Quim Packard will work with the public, adults and children, to create an ephemeral, inflatable and imaginative structure that will momentarily allow us to dream of the possibility of configuring utopian spaces.
Spetial visit: The secrets of conservation and restoration in contemporary art
Hour: at 12.30 pm and at 6.30 pm
What is the task of curator-restorers? What does preventive conservation entail? What are the conservation and restoration criteria for contemporary art? In this tour, an educator and a curator-restorer engage with participants in a dialogue around some of the lesser-known aspects of works from the MACBA Collection.
The tour is not intended to provide exhaustive information on all the artworks on display, but to show a selection that shed light on some of the particularities and problems that the conservation and restoration team face. We will discover that there are professionals who specialise in works on paper or canvas, and others who work with objects, media art or installations, and that they strive to prevent the deterioration of the works and pieces through the use of new electronic and digital technologies.
Performative tour by the artist Jordi Ferreiro
Hour: at 7.30 pm
The performative visits are a way of approaching contemporary art in a playful and transgressive manner, and of finding answers to the questions it prompts in a participatory and collective way.
Through a series of actions organised in the Museum galleries with the help of the artist-educator Jordi Ferreiro, the participants will actively explore different key concepts in contemporary art practices, thus becoming at once participants and creators in a unique and unrepeatable event.
We will also invite you to coffee and milk products throughout the morning by courtesy of Illy and Danone, and to beer in the evening on the Museum hall by courtesy of Moritz. DJ set by DJ Santa Pau, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
