Jo Spence. Beyond the Perfect Image. Photography, Subjectivity, Antagonism

The artist Jo Spence played a crucial role in the debates on photography and the critique of representation that took place in the 1970s and 1980s. By means of her own body, her photographic work explores the ways in which social identity is constructed through images. Playing the role of both author and model, Spence uses photography as an instrument of rebellion and therapy. This publication includes a selection of texts by the artist, as well as her most important series of photographs.
