Esther Ferrer was born in San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain) in 1937 and currently lives and works in Paris. She studied Social Science and Journalism and began her activities with the Artistic Association of Guipúzcoa in San Sebastián between 1961 and 1968. In 1963, along with Painter José Antonio Sistiaga, she created the “Free Expression Workshop” in San Sebastián, as well as an experimental school in Elorrio, Vizcaya. In 1967 she joined the Zaj group, which had been originally created by Ramón Barce, Juan Hidalgo and Walter Marchetti in Madrid in 1964.

Since 1975 Esther Ferrer has published cultural articles in various magazines and periodicals including El País, Ere, Lápiz and Jano.
