You Are Here. Architecture and Information Flows

‘Nowadays, orienting oneself is becoming increasingly disorientating.’ Laura Kurgan uses this idea as a springboard for reflecting on spatial location and the cartography of movement. In the installation Laura Kurgan: You Are Here, organised by MACBA in 1995, the artist used a Global Positioning System (GPS) to create an aesthetic-spatial game that mapped the location of MACBA and the space that knowledge takes up in a museum. This publication is a compilation of six essays on the topics that were explored in the installation and analyses the philosophical problems arising from architecture and computerized space.
