Concave is a physical study based on the avant-garde work of Pablo Gargallo (1881-1934), a sculptor who explored the creation of volume using empty space, suggestion, and the reversal of the convex and concave surfaces of the bodies cast in metal. His increasingly minimalist forms maintained the extreme details of the real body. Borrowing his working methods, I recreate my own body in a new imaginary body. I define each stage based on the space surrounding it, cut up movement and put it back together in pieces, change its contours, and invent my own shape.
