Sert. Architect in New York, 1997

In the forties and fifties, art converged with public space in the work of Josep Luís Sert, and from that time forth concepts such as monumentality, civic centre and urban core became recurring ideas that influenced the rest of his career. Focusing on Sert’s exile in New York from 1939 to the mid 1950s, this catalogue explores some of his urban planning projects in Latin America and his collaborations with other European artists and architects who were also in exile in the United States.
