Màscara i mirall

A great deal of late twentieth century contemporary creation revolves around the issue of identity: who we are, what we are, and where we are. In 1997, Anatxu Zabalbeascoa curated a group show at MACBA in which ten prominent women photographers from diverse contexts – Sophie Calle, Sinje Dillenkofer, Nuria Canal, Friedl Kubelka, Shirin Neshat, Orlan, Cindy Sherman, Annie Sprinkle, Sandra Semchuk and Christine Webster – explored female self-representation and the condition of identity and community. The catalogue includes the photographs along with theoretical texts that explore related issues.
