Blinky Palermo

In spite of being a minority artist and dying young, Peter Heisterkamp – aka Blinky Palermo – made a highly valuable contribution to the art world. Palermo thoroughly explored the boundaries of abstract painting, convinced that the power of painting lies in colour’s potential to evoke sensations and to transcend the limits of traditional painting. The catalogue includes Himmelsrichtungen, one of Palermo’s final installations that had last been shown at the 1976 Venice Biennale and was reconstructed for the MACBA exhibition. It also includes paintings, drawings and preparatory sketches for his murals and interventions.
